Principal’s Corner

We have had an exciting week at Clinton Elementary. We found out last week that we were the winners of the “Best Practices Award”. This award was received by Ms. Joy, third grade teacher and Instructional Leader and me at the Best Practices Summit in Omaha on Thursday, October 11th during their luncheon. Clinton Elementary was one of 6 schools selected out of four states‚ÄîKansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Missouri‚Äîby the Midwest Desegregation Center for closing the achievement gap between all subgroups of students. The following was written by our nominator: “On the 3rd grade MAT assessments last spring, the achievement of all sub-groups of students was remarkably similar. We observed the same pattern in the 4th grade statewide writing assessment."

The award will be in the Clinton office for all to see. Stop by sometime and check it out!

Learn Not to Burn Fourth Grade Poster Contest: Congratulations to Clinton Fourth Grader, Deriane Cox. She is the Clinton winner of the “Learn Not to Burn” poster contest!

Heelie Tennis Shoes: We have started to have several students wear “Heelie” tennis shoes to school. These are the tennis shoes with wheels in the heel. These are not allowed at Clinton School because they are not safe and they damage our rubber floors. If students wear the wheels in their shoes, they will be taken out and kept in the office until a parent can pick them up. Thank you for your cooperation.

Parent Teacher Conferences: It’s time for Parent Teacher Conferences. This round of conferences will took place on Monday, October 15th and will conclude on Wednesday, October 17th from 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Please take time to keep the lines of communication open between home and school by attending. If you have questions or need to schedule a conference, call the school at 436-1132.

Check out the Clinton website at http://clinton.lps.org/ for more pictures and information about Clinton School.
