December 12, 2007This year we are part of a Parent Involvement Grant called PIRC. A School Community Council has been formed to guide this important work. We have 4 parents that serve on this committee, along with 4 Clinton Staff members. We will discuss such important topics as our School Parent Compact, homework and much more. We will share our work with you throughout the year in this newsletter.
Clinton Neighborhood Association Essay Contest Winners: Congratulations to our students that won the essay contest. Athulya was the winner in the grades 2-3 category. Ahmed was the winner in the grades 4-5 category. The winners were recognized at the Clinton Neighborhood Association Banquet last week. Each winner received a $50 savings bond. Congratulations to all our students that entered this year’s contest. We look forward to another topic for next year’s essay contest.
Phone Contact Information: It is that time of year when many illnesses are going around. Please help us get a hold of you when your child is sick and in the Nurse’s Office needing to go home by updating your phone numbers when they change. This phone number will be used for Connect Ed and phone calls home if there is a school closure due to the weather.
Whenever your phone contacts change please give us a call at 436-1132 to update them. That includes home, work and emergency contacts. Thank you.
Clinton Website: Check out the Clinton website at http://clinton.lps.org/ for more pictures and information about Clinton School.
Schoolwide Rules and Procedures: At Clinton School we have the following rules: Be Safe. Be Respectful. Be Responsible. We are teaching students procedures around the building. This week we are continuing to focus on behavior in all common areas. Students that are caught using these procedures may receive an “I Got Caught” sticker. If your child wears one home, ask them how they earned it.
