The students in grades 3-5 will be taking the end of the year reading and math tests the next few weeks. These tests are reported to the state of Nebraska and are used to decide if students are making adequate yearly progress. This year a student must score 81% or better to pass the reading test and they need to score 83% or better to pass the math.

Teachers will share with you the dates of the reading and math tests. Please make sure that your child gets to school on time on these days. Other test tips are:

--Get plenty of rest. A child needs 10-11 hours to be fully rested. That means going to bed at 9 p.m. and getting up at 7 a.m.

--Drink plenty of water. The brain needs six 8 ounce glasses of water to perform its best.

--Get a good breakfast. Breakfast is served at Clinton starting at 7:45 a.m.

Lunchroom News: We love having our parents come for lunch with their children. Please remember to pay for your lunch with small bills. We don’t keep extra change on hand. Also, call and order your lunch by 8:30 a.m. the day you plan to come.

Updated Phone Contacts: If you have a new phone number, please let us know in the Clinton Office. Our last all school phone outreach call resulted in up to 20% bad phone numbers. We want to keep you informed and be able to contact you in case of an emergency. Please forward any new phone numbers.

Don’t Arrive until 7:45 a.m.: We do not have supervision for students that arrive at school before 7:45 a.m. Those not enrolled in our Community Learning Center, will need to stay off the school block until 7:45 a.m.

After School Dismissal Plans: Please help us get all of our students where they need to be after school each day. Please set up a regular after school plan. Make sure you review the plan before your children leave for school each day. It is impossible for us to deliver notes to students each day concerning a change in plans. We appreciate your help in making the end of the school day a positive one for all 530 of our students.

Attendance: Attendance Goal for 2007-08: Let’s set our goal to have a 95% average daily attendance rate for the 2007-08 school year. Students that are in school learn!!
