Dear Clinton Families,
We are looking forward to seeing all of our Clinton Comets on August 12th! We have been working diligently on creating safe, structured procedures for all parts of our day. I wanted to share a few changes to our arrival and dismissal routines in order to keep safe distancing.
Students eating breakfast should arrive at 7:45. If you are driving your student to school, please keep them in your car until we signal it is time for your student to exit the vehicle. In the past, we would signal and everyone would exit their vehicles at the same time and proceed to Door 1. This will not work as that would not be enough distancing. This year, we will still have cars lining Clinton Street going east. We will dismiss students a few cars at a time and students will walk up to school keeping safe distancing in mind. The cars will continue down Clinton Street to the east and exit to the north or south alleyways. We will then dismiss the next group of cars.
If students are walking, we will have supervisors signal for them to cross safely and proceed to Door 1.
Students riding the bus will be walked around to Door 3 to enter. We will also be contacting a few of our families to see if it would work for you to have your students enter Door 3 each morning in order to space students out during arrival.
Students not eating breakfast at school should arrive at 8:05.
We ask that parents say good-bye at the car or on the sidewalk and make sure students are wearing their masks as they walk independently to their entrance.
We will be dismissing at 2:53 using multiple exits and walk around to dismiss from the front playground area. Students riding the bus or Malone van will be dismissed first. If your child is in 5th grade or 1st grade (Bishop, Nickels, Crawford), they will exit from Door 3. If your child is in 4th grade or 1st grade (Goosic), they will exit from Door 7. Students in 3rd grade, 2nd grade and kindergarten will exit through Door 1. All classes will walk to a designated area to be dismissed by their teacher.
Parents are encouraged to practice social distancing and must wear a mask if coming onto school property. You can also make a plan to have your student(s) walk to your car or meeting place.
Thank you in advance for your help with safe arrival and dismissal routines and procedures. We know this is a change and wish we could have all of our families together at arrival and dismissal as we have done in the past. This was always a great social time for Clinton families. However, we know these new procedures are an important part of keeping everyone safe.
We also want to share your child’s teacher and room number with you (listed below). We will be making a video for a virtual Open House on August 10. We will be posting the videos to the Clinton website at https://clinton.lps.org/. You can view the videos with your student(s) so they can be prepared for their first day on August 12.
We will be holding Kindergarten Kick-off for new kindergarten students and their families on the evening of August 3 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This will be an outdoor event where you can meet your child’s kindergarten teacher in person.
We can’t wait to welcome our Clinton Comets HOME for the 20-21 school year! If you have any questions or need anything, please call us at 402-436-1132.
