The Clinton Elementary Family Resource center is a partnership between families, Clinton School, and the greater Lincoln community. Our approach to education recognizes the family as the most important influence on a child’s academic success. We support families growing strong by providing information, parenting training, adult education and referrals to a network of community resources. We are committed to:

Plan of Action
Clinton Community Family Resource Center will take the following actions to increase involvement of parents, teachers, staff, and the community in its triad partnership. Our efforts are intended to increase parent engagement, to enhance the communication and relationship between our school and the families we serve, to support and promote the achievement of each student, jointly establish academic and social goals, and to improve the quality of, and increase the opportunities for learning in a multicultural environment.
- Clinton Community Family Resource Center will survey Clinton staff regarding understanding, concerns, and ideas surrounding parent involvement. Next the FRC will convene a meeting to inform on the mission, vision, and goals of the FRC and to report and discuss survey findings.
- Clinton Community Family Resource Center will facilitate a town hall meeting to inform on the mission, vision, and goals of the FRC and to survey parents/guardians and the Clinton Community regarding understanding, concerns, and ideas surrounding parent and community involvement. At this meeting FRC will report survey findings, compare and contrast findings with teacher/staff survey.
- Clinton Elementary School will continue to provide opportunities for parent engagement. These include: Open House, weekly Clinton Community Parent Group meetings, parent training and school improvement meetings, monthly Clinton Parent Group meetings, Family Reading/Math Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Sudanese Family Night, Multicultural Night, ELL Curriculum meeting, Student intervention meetings, IEP meetings, school awards assemblies, Band and String performances, musicals, and 5th grade recognition. Parents are informed of all meetings and training opportunities through notices sent home with the Wednesday folder, the school calendar and newsletters, or personal letter or phone. Each of these meetings provide on going opportunity for parent involvement in an organized and timely manner. Parents also participate in the planning, evaluation and improvement of parent involvement.
- Clinton Elementary School provides parents a description and explanation of the curriculum, and the behavior intervention program being used in the school. Parents are also informed about the academic assessments used to measure progress and proficiency levels, and how to interpret grade reports. This is done through notices provided at enrollment, at Open House, sent home in Wednesday folders, or with grade reports, at Parent-Teacher conferences, and on the school and LPS District websites.
- Clinton Elementary School provides time for parents to meet with teachers through Fall and Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences and by prearranged classroom visits. The FRC and Clinton staff will assist parents in understanding student expectations, state and local academic standards, and monitoring their child’s progress. Furthermore FRC, and Clinton staff will provide parents with materials and information on assisting with homework and ways to improve their child’s achievement. FRC will frequently orient and train teachers, staff, and parents about the requirements and benefits of parent engagement in the triad partnership.
- Clinton Elementary School has a Parent/Student /Teacher compact that outlines how students, parents, teachers and school staff, share responsibilities for student achievement. As part of the parent engagement initiative, FRC will jointly develop with parents, Clinton staff and community participants, an agreement detailing the shared responsibilities of the triad partnership towards meeting our mission.
- Clinton Family Resource Center staff will provide parents with reasonable opportunities for volunteerism, and to participate and observe their child in the academic environment in accordance with school policy. FRC and Clinton teachers, and staff will help families and community participants understand how they can work with the school to improve student achievement.
- Clinton Elementary School provides the opportunity for parent engagement for non-English speaking families, or persons with disabilities to the fullest extent possible. ELL language interpreters or liaisons (Spanish, Neur, Arabic, Kurdish, Vietnamese, etc.) are available to assist families at all meetings, events, and programs.
- Clinton Family Resource Center staff will periodically meet with school administration to report current status, evaluate, and update this parent engagement plan of action. In addition FRC will conduct ongoing evaluation of programs and initiatives of parent engagement through surveys, etc.
